Nitro Canyon
★★★★☆ 4.1
Nitro Canyon is pure arcade racing with no simulation pretensions. You drift around canyon bends, hunt for shortcuts, and feed a boost meter that you learn to spend at exactly the right moment. The handling model is forgiving but still has a skill ceiling once you start chaining drifts.
Tilt and touch controls are both offered, and the touch steering is genuinely good, which is rare. We ran most races on touch without issues. The track variety is solid, with night runs and sandstorm stages that change visibility and lines.
Rival AI rubber-bands a bit, which some people hate and we mostly didn't mind in a game this casual. It's a great five-minute burst between other things.
What we liked
- Excellent touch steering option
- Satisfying drift-and-boost rhythm
- Varied, good-looking tracks
